The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has received approval to start four new undergraduate programs. The National Universities Commission (NUC) granted the approval.
The new programs will begin in the 2024/2025 academic session. FUPRE will offer B.Sc. degrees in:

The NUC’s decision came after a detailed resource verification exercise. A letter dated February 25, 2025, confirmed the approval.
The letter was sent to the Vice-Chancellor. It stated that FUPRE met the necessary standards to run the new programs successfully.
FUPRE’s Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, thanked the NUC. He called the approval a big achievement for the university.
“This is a big step for us,” he said. “These programs will give students the skills they need for success in key industries.”
He added that FUPRE is ready to train future leaders. The goal is to help students contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
